Yummy...and spendy!

I really look forward to eating at Tarahumara's! I'm a native of New Mexico and this is the closest to "my" type of food that I've found in Oklahoma. They also serve such a wide variety of Mexican dishes that I've been able to try new Mexican food I never found in my home state. I've never been disappointed with their food.

That being said, the prices are pretty high for what you get. I wish they would scale back their MASSIVE menu just a little bit and maybe adjust their prices accordingly. I'd really like to eat there more often, I just can't afford to do so.

Parking is a real pain

I have eaten at Taramahara's for many, many years and I really enjoy their food. It is beginning to be a little pricey.I hate, hate, hate trying to find a parking place and have gotten to where that and price increases have caused me not to go there as much as I once did. Still, the food is good and I like that they have the kitchen on monitors.

#1 Mexican Food in Norman

I have been all over Southwest country, and unless you go straight to Mexico, this is the place to be... awsome service, at first glance the wait seems forever. Just be patient it really is not that long, and it will be worth the wait. Even for the bigger groups they are moved in/out in no time... The food is out of this world!.. be sure to ask for salsa verde (if you can handle some spice) We cannot say enough about this place, the location is perfect, cozy and it feels like abuelito's kitchen, cramped but like home. My husband and I will continue to dine here and enjoy everyminute of it~~~ gracias tarahumara!

Terrible Service

Went there last night with my family (5). After an hour and 1/2 wait a family with an even larger party (10) that had come after us complained about the wait and were seated almost immediately. When we complained about this action we were told they could do nothing about it and that we would just have to wait. When we looked closely at the reservation sheet they could not explain other families with larger parties that also who had been seated before us. We thought this was very unfair and we will never eat there again.

busy for a good reason

Don't let the crowd keep you out of this place. This restaurant is crowded because it's really, really good. The service is fast. Even if you have to wait a few minutes to be seated, it's worth it. The monitors that show the kitchen is a really cool touch too.

I have NEVER had better mexican food.

MMMM. Cheese enchiladas are my fave and the waiters are so wonderful. Usually if we go out to eat that is the place we all choose! It is wonderful.. BETTER THAN TEDS!!!!!!!!!!!

Still Terrific

I used to work near Tarahumara's when I was in college and ate there about two or three times a week. I loved it then and I love it now. Their set-up is the best on the planet: Warm crispy chips and the best salsa and queso I've ever had! I have tried the whole menu (almost) and everything is great. If you aren't a patient person, don't go at lunch...it is always packed.

Best Mexican Food Ever

This is the best Mexican food ever! Not only is the food amazing, but the service is also great. If you're ever in Norman and hungry for Mexican food, this is the place to go.

Went in for lunch

As soon as I sat down (they have a neon sign outside letting you know if there is immediate seating available) they brought me Chips (light and crisp not heavy and oily), salsa, Caiso Dip, and Flour Tortillas. Ordered the Steak Tacos (They have a Television Monitor so you can watch the kitchen activity from your seat) I swear it only took about 5 min for me to get my food. Portions are nice size. In fact I took 1/2 of it home due to the amount of things that they bring you when you sit down. at the end it was all I could do to agree to the sopipia that they bring you at the end of the meal. Nice lunch, friendly folks, fast and courteous service, The price was just under $10 but well worth the price for all the food you get.

Still great!

Tarahumara's building looks like a converted Dairy Queen and is across the street from a Sonic drive-in. Don't let that put you off; it's very nice inside. It's also always crowded and usually a little noisy, but the booths provide a smidgen of intimacy. After a frosty mug or two, it's just great. The food and the service make up for everything. The servers are polite almost to the point of seeming embarrased to bother you by presenting magnificent platters of wonderful food. I really try to watch what I eat (I'm a triathlete) but Tarhumara's food is the type that renders you unable to abstain from overeating. The prices are practically give-away. I really can't over-praise this restaurant, it's a very nice place to stuff yourself silly on delicious fare.
