Habana Inn Rocks!. First impressions are important, but they're not everything. The Habana Inn is in a kind of seedy neighborhood, but if you want to be in the area where all the Gay bars are located, this is the place to be.

The Habana Inn has got a retro-chic 60's style. Mostly because it IS a 60's motel. A bit run down at the heels, but reasonably modern and well kept. The rooms are large and the hard working housekeeping staff does a pretty good job of keeping them clean. Pretty good, not excellent. On the other hand, they are quick to answer any complaints. The beds are a horror story. Like sleeping on boards. If you require a soft, comfortable bed, this ain't the place! Frankly, I don't think many people come here for the comfort. In fact, you may find that The Habana Inn guests tend to be rather Sex-Centric.

The wireless internet connection here is occasionally wonky, and reception is somewhat spotty, but overall, it's fast and reliable. Better than I've had in some business centered hotels. But don't rely on the front desk for a lot of technical advice if you are having problems. That said, the few problems I had were promptly addressed, and I was able to enjoy a fairly productive stay here.

The restaurant, Gushers, is moderately priced, and the food is quite good. It's probably a bit pretentious for this decidedly middle class motel, but then, this IS a Gay motel. The wait staff is untrained and unprofessional, but alarmingly friendly. The kitchen staff is loud and boisterous, and the chef doesn't seem to know a well done steak from a rare one. My med-rare steak was oversized and overcooked, but tasty.

The bars here in the hotel are a welcome treat. Especially The Copa. Friendly bar staff, cheap drinks, and attractive patrons make for an enjoyable evening. A sweet and beautiful dancer named Bill stole my heart, and I'll not soon forget him, or my week at the Habana.
