Not all I thought it'd be

by scrumptous

I seen this on Guy Fieri's Diner's Drive-in's and Dive's. I thought, wow, that's close I'll go try it. It was disappointing. The BBQ sauce was hot but no flavor to it. It was a very dark atmosphere, not the way Guy made it look. It wasn't on Kelley Ave anymore. My grandma, 79, squished a big insect, said something to us about it being slippery under her foot, that was when she got a closer look and it was a big insect. Understandable because they bring in real firewood from outside for the stoves. Regardless it still made us lose our appetites a bit.

  • Pros: The beans were good
  • Cons: The whole restaurant after seeing it on the food network

Confirms that the ribs are "off the hook" and "money"

by polson8568

I saw this on Guy Fieri's show on Food Network and can attest that the pork ribs are excellent. Meaty and not too much fat. The beans have a spice in the sauce that I cannot quite place but are outstanding. The banana/strawberry cake is great! Note that the original location is not open. This restaurant was on 4th and Harrison (near Broadway) downtown. Worth the hunt! Way better than the rib place on the touristy canal.

  • Pros: Tasty food. Great value
  • Cons: Hard to find.

A Good Thing Gone Bad

by ethereal_eagle

Since I was young Leo's always had great BBQ, and I mean the best in OKC. The smell of the BBQ smoking wafted through the place and you smelled it on your clothes for the rest of the day. The hot sauce was hot and tasty not just spicy tingling on your tongue like some others. You would also get their famous cake with every meal.

Unfortunately, the last couple of times I went to eat there, I was sorely disappointed. The food quality was nowhere near what it had been. Both times, the meat was tough, and did not taste as good as it had in the past. The nice smoky aroma was replaced with a kind of house fire type of odor. And I had to buy the cake separately from my lunch special; which used to come with it. Needless to say, I was very disappointed.

  • Pros: Famous Cake, Friendly People
  • Cons: Food Quality down
