In Short – The first Super 8 opened in Aberdeen, S.D., in 1974, charging $8.88 a night. Today, the national franchise, with its familiar red-and-yellow sign, still stands for dependable rooms at wallet-friendly prices. A staple for road-tripping families, truck drivers and tour groups, the motel offers complimentary morning coffee and continental breakfasts. Another perk for travelers: Super 8 travel cups may be refilled for free at any of the motel's locations.

The motels across the street HAVE to be better!

The tubs drain plug was not attached to the drain. The coffee maker and microwave were not plugged in because there wasn't an outlet available. The fuse panel was painted shut and the bathroom light switch was partially broken. The light went on but if you bumped the switch it would go off. Also, there were 3 switches for the bathroom but only 2 were hooked to anything! The stool leaked in the first room and we were switched to this one (I guess they thought it was better!) Breakfast was cereal or a not so fresh roll or bagel. The language barrier made it difficult to discuss anything with the management. Overall, a real SUPER 8 disappointment.
- Pros: It rained and the roof did not leak
- Cons: code violations, poor maintenance
