Vito's would not please the Godfather.
My wife remembered Vito's from the past as a great place to eat and enjoy some tasty Italian fare. Well, that was the past and this is the now.... things have definitely changed and not for the better.
Do you ever watch Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsey? Have you ever noticed the establishments that have nothing but older clientele? That usually means the food is bland and without much spice and the older crowd tends to lean that way.... nothing wrong with that but that's definitely not what I want when I'm looking for some great Italian food. I want some spice! Some pizazz when it hits my taste buds and sorry to say, Vito's misses the mark, badly.
I thought I'd stay simple and order some Ziti with house gravy.... because in my book, a great Italian restaurant should be judged by it's sauce... right? I also threw in some italian sausage... about the only thing worth a darn on my plate was the ziti. The sauce was extremely bland and actually a little sweet, with little to no visible spice. Basically, what you would pour out of a Del Monte can, maybe add a few diced onions and that's about it. The sausage was more like a pepperoni stick..... very dry as if it had been cooked a day or two previous.
My wife had the Fettuccine Alfredo.... it was actually worse than mine. The sauce was like milk and extremely bland. The sliced chicken was also very dry.
Less than 50% of either meal was eaten.... that's not too good.
When asked by the waiter how the dinner was, we constructively informed him of our view which he was very appreciative of. The manager was nice enough to comp the entree's which is why this is getting one star because the food alone was a zero.
I'm going to give this restaurant a wide berth until I hear a new chef's been hired or Ramsey has done his magic on it!
Our Experience Was Not That Pleasant. We made reservations for a private party. The bread we were served was still raw dough in the center. The alfredo sauce was as thin as milk and tasteless. We had to wait for service. They charged much more than we were quoted on the phone and they refused to honor their quote. We will certainly not return and suggest that you dine elsewhere.
YUM!. Wow I love it. It seriously has the BEST Italian food I've ever tasted. Owner, Cathy Cummings, is the nicest person you'll ever meet. She loves to greet her customeres with a warm hug and a bright smile. I will most definitely go there again.
