Quick Peek

On Christmas day of 2003, Pasquale Scaturro and a team of explorers set out on an epic quest to become the first to complete a full descent of the world's greatest river, the Blue Nile and the Nile, from source to sea. Four months later, on April 28 at 7:01am, Pasquale and his expedition partner Gordon Brown, reached the mouth of the Nile at the Mediterranean Sea, becoming the first in history to complete this 3,250-mile journey. Their amazing journey is the basis for the IMAX film, 'Mystery of the Nile.' The film tells the story of this emotional and historic expedition while also exploring the cultural and environmental links between the Ethiopian, Sudanese and Egyptian civilizations. 'Mystery of the Nile' is both a captivating human adventure and a serious in-depth look at this most fascinating yet little-known region.

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

The "Mystery of the Nile" is an outstanding EXPERIENCE. This is an experience rather than a film. As you sit in the theatre, you are literally taken on an aerial and river trip of the majestic Nile, complete with deep canyons and rugged river rafting. While enjoying this experience you are learning the history as well as the wonderous mysteries and surprises that hold you riveted and engrossed as though you are actually there. As an adventerous grandmother, I would recommend this for people of all ages and definitely a "must see experience" for students of all ages learning geography or interested in archeology. As part of the "team" riding the river for a portion of the experience, the audience is subtly drawn, into the teamwork which creates the suspense and anticipation along with the characters and film-makers. The story is very well written, the photography is National Geographic quality, and the narrative and dialogue are superb. I would highly recommend it, especially to anyone who has even a passing interest in the River Nile.

Pros: Great sound, experiential, the big screen makes it a delightful adventure.

Cons: Could have been longer (:>)
