Tips for Cottonwood Salon Spa

November 27, 2012

I am not a wealthy person, but there are certainly areas where I'm willing to spend for the proper care and service. I've done so as a resident of Dallas for years when it comes to my nails. Nothing extravagant; simple care, the strip-down of the old polish, the application of the new, a $40 charge and a nice tip on top of it.

So imagine my surprise when on a recent trip to the Cottonwood Spa in Edmond, when I was asked about wanting the strip-down of the old polish (which of course I do, as it is necessary and standard) ... and because I said 'yes,' the $40 charge vaulted to a $70 charge!

Cottonwood Spa is a lovely place, and Bunny, the girl who provided the service, did a nice job. But the almost bait-and-switch tactic of virtually doubling the price for a standard procedure is off-putting. It's like a restaurant offering "free water'' but then charging you for the use of the glass.

I can't recommend Cottonwood Spa because this action was deceptive -- and obviously, expensive!

best salon around!. i love cottonwood! i've been going there for about 8 years and have gotten every service imaginable. i have never had a bad experience. sure there's been staff turnover and a few minor bleeps just like in any other business but they make every effort to please you! they have great education programs and i think the best stylists, nail techs, (and other staff too) in the world. i've traveled to many other countries and experienced many spas, and can say i think cottonwood is the best.

Cottonwood is Awesome!. adore this spa. I have been going for *years* and I wouldn't go anywhere else. I can't recall a single unpleasant experience. I recently went in for an eyebrow wax and a spa pedicure and they have been my best to date. I highly recommend Rebecca for eyebrow waxes. I have gotten my hair cut from her before and I didn't even know she did eyebrow waxes but she did a fantastic job. I had a spa pedicure that was long, luxurious and relaxing and my poor, tired feet have never looked better. The girls were young, but none of them were rude or snotty. The decor is pretty and relaxing. The services are always professional.

I highly recommend Cottonwood and I promise that for every bad review where someone just needed to vent about a bad experience there are literally hundreds of good reviews that have gone unspoken on the internet.

What An Amazing Salon and Spa.. After being misscheduled by another salon in Edmond my girlfriend and I called Cottonwood to see if they could fit us in. We had already taken the day off and had our whole day planned around our services. When I called Cottonwood for 2 massages and 2 pedicures, they were a little hesitant at first due to the short notice, but put me on hold to check. After a few moements of waiting on hold the lady came back on the line to let me know that they could get us for the pedicures but not massages. We decided to go ahead and take whatever services that we could get. When we walked in for our pedicures everyone greeted us with a friendly hello. I had never been to Cottonwood and was amazed at how beautiful the Salon and Spa was. While we were getting our pedicures we had told the ladies what had happened to us.What happened next was a shock, they apologized for the troubles of the day and it was even their fault. They offered us wine while we were getting our pedicures. The pedicures were great!! They even gave us free hand and arm massages since we could not get in for hour massages. What a wonderful place, very nice, very accomodating, very everything. I reccommend Cottowood and can't wait to go back.

Horrible customer service, owner rude. This place is very over-rated! I called to see why a check my daughter had written on Oct. 1 had not been deposited as of Oct. 24. I first was put on hold for about 4 minutes - all the while getting to listen to what a wonderful salon and spa they were. A human finally answered but had to put me through to someone else, second person put me to manager, who put me to owner. She did not understand why I would be concerned with when they deposit their checks. I was told that a check was a financial document good for a year and they could hold it that long, lord, what kind of customer service is that? She also thought that it would be an advantage to not have the check deposited since my daughter would still have that money in her account and she wanted me to know that even though it was not deposited that she did owe for the service she got there. Is that any kind of an answer - does that make sense.or am I just stupid? She was rude, Inever got an answer at to where the check was and I will never return to this place again.

DO NOT GO HERE. The first time I ever got a gift certificate from cottonwood, my wallet was stolen along with the gift card. When I called, they claimed that they couldn't reissue a card (even though they have that information in the computer) Oh well, I thought.. So I was excited when my mother-in-law and I received another Cottonwood gift certificate from my husband. We decided to do a mini spa day with our gift certificates, so we booked our appointments 2 weeks in advance. When we showed up, the staff was so rude to us, and after waiting for about 30 minutes, they claimed that we never had an appointment with them. After much arguing, they said we could come back in two hours and only get one of the services, the pedicure. What a waste. Terrible shop, terrible staff, terrible work.

DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS!. Cottonwood was chosen as the spa for my sister's wedding preparations, such as pedicures for four, manicures, and haircuts. Each of these services were done horribly, in the most unprofessional manner possible. The nail tech's were not fully trained and asked to do our services at the last minute (this was an admittance of the manager and something the girls made sure we were aware of during our pedicures), the hair stylist spent five minutes on my cut before turning me over to an assistant, and any seven year old could have given better nail treatments. Rough heels, uncut nails (the tech actually refused to trim my toenails!), messy edges, and the polish began to flake off within hours. It's also worth mentioning that the bathroom was filthy, ratty, bleach stained towels were re-used between clients, and when my sister (the bride) asked for water she was charged $3.50.

When these, and many more points, were brought to the management's attention we were met with lame excuses, contradictions, and a few bold faced lies. In the end, a refund amount was agreed upon and we assumed the problem to be resolved. After one week of not receiving a refund, the manager was phoned again. We were told they had simply decided not to refund us because it would come directly out of the employees wages. Once very harshly reminded of the lies and unprofessional behavior, the money finally appeared.

Please don't buy into the lame, false bravado that Cottonwood so boldly flaunts on their website, answering machine, and reviews. This is not an upscale salon, this is not exceptional service, and definitely not worth the inflated prices.

See for yourself. I have been a customer at this place for about 4 years. I have had facials and massages there and they were good but mostly I go for my hair and waxing.

They will give you something other than cookie cutter hair. I get mine cut and colored and have always been happy. I also get waxed every month. It is the only place I could find where they do a decent brazilian wax. They have several techs who are really good but you may have to keep trying to get in they are really busy all the time.

Ask for a gift card and see for yourself.

Not a good place to have your hair done !. I used to be a customer in this salon. Everything was Ok until the guy who used to do my hair left. However , I went there the time after he left, and took another guy to do my hair. IT WAS TERRIBLE !!

He completely did my highlights over the old ones and the roots still showed up !! I told him about this and he got upset. After all, I need it to be fixed, so he in a bad manner did it. BLAMMING ME FOR IT !!!!

Please DO NOT go there. it is expenseive and bad service. !!

Besides if they make a mistake and you ask for a deserve discount they will not give it to you !!!!

Trust me !!!!!
