We recently went to Russell's for my birthday. I have been there many times in the past and enjoyed the overall experience, even though there were downsides. (male prostitutes, meat market, high drink prices, etc.) However, this last trip was the first time I had been in almost a year.
There was a $8 cover (at midnight) for a band that was not memorable to say the least. The place was almost completely empty, this was a Friday night, not a Tuesday or Sunday.
My wife and her friend ordered a WELL specialty Martini that ended up being $10.50 a piece. Let me remind you these were poured with WELL liquor. The entire bottle probably didn't cost $10.50. Come the end of the night and we get our bill. There were 5 drinks on there that we did not order, and when we asked the bartender about the issue he rudely walked away and got another bartender to come talk to us and handle the problem that he had created. There was still 1 drink that had been left on the tab and when we called the manager on the phone a few days later she refused to refund the money saying that the drink had been served, even though she was not there.
Unless you enjoy paying for overpriced drinks that you have not even had the pleasure of drinking, and dealing with bartenders that really don't care whether you have a good time or not, I would steer very clear of this meat market!
AVOID!!!. This was probably the most unfriendly bar I've ever been to. The bartender was in a foul mood, the people there were either rude or trying to get with you. There was a $7 cover to get in AND ONLY ONE WORKING STALL IN THE LADIES' ROOM! One friend was grabbed inappropriately on the dance floor. There were no bouncers in sight. I was shoved by an old man. I highly recommend staying very far away from this place!
